What is the Fascial Manipulation® Stecco method?
Fascial Manipulation is an evidence-based manual therapy designed to treat myofascial pain and dysfunctions. Developed by Italian physiotherapist Luigi Stecco, the method has been further refined and scientifically validated by Prof. Dr. Carla Stecco and Dr. Antonio Stecco. Rather than focusing solely on the site of pain, this approach investigates potential root causes elsewhere in the body. Local or global compensations can alter proprioception, coordination, and load distribution—often leading to chronic pain or increased risk of injury. The Fascial Manipulation therapist conducts a detailed assessment of the patient's medical history, previous injuries, and internal dysfunctions to identify and address the primary cause. By applying precise, deep friction to densified areas of fascia, the method restores the sliding properties of connective tissue, reduces compensatory patterns, and re-establishes natural fascial biomechanics—promoting long-lasting results and improved freedom of movement.
